Special Guest: Mondo Guerra

Photos by Jeff BallDenver designer Mondo Guerra endeared himself to an international audience during his time on Lifetime’s Project Runway – Season 8.  His innovative style and bold designs have captured the imagination of the fashion world, while his courageous story has inspired global support surrounding his HIV/AIDS advocacy.

Mondo began his incredible journey in the fashion industry as a teenager, constructing a pair of green, faux-fur pants as his first garment.  But the self-taught artist quickly moved beyond his humble beginnings.  As his eclectic career developed, he secured positions such as a designer for a NYC juniorwear company, then a milliner’s apprentice, and eventually a costume designer.

Denver recognized Mondo’s talent after he began winning city fashion competitions and raising eyebrows with his early Technicolor collections.  Encouraged by his Mile-High success, he set his sights on Project Runway.

As a Project Runway Season 8 designer, Mondo delivered an impressive performance.  His creations consistently placed him in top 3 ranking and he claimed victory for three consecutive challenges in the season.  He received praise for his impeccable construction & styling, masterful mix of prints, and fearless use of color.  He earned a runner-up finish for the season after one of the most heated and controversial judges’ deliberations in the show’s history.

In addition to his remarkable success on Project Runway, audiences rallied in support of Mondo following the emotional disclosure of his HIV-positive status on the show.  Since his courageous confession, Mondo has become vigorous advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness.

Mondo currently resides in Denver with his partner Ben Duchaine.  He continues to create collections for fashion week in many major US cities in addition to traveling for HIV/AIDS advocacy and developing his own brand.  Visit Mondo’s website at www.lovemondotrasho.com

Mondo will be at the Expo Saturday 4 - 9pm, April 2, meeting fans, selling original designs and participating in the Denver Top 10 Fashion Show at 7pm. He will also serve as a judge for the Denver Style Awards. Mondo’s original designs will be for sale at the Expo Friday and Saturday.

Mondo will be showing his entire brand-new collection, straight from the LA Fashion Week runway. (He's literally coming straight from the airport to our Expo) ... This will be the first time Mondo has shown a collection in Denver since 2003!
